On Thursday, June 25th, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released their initial Return to School Guidance for school reopening this fall (see links). The guidance prioritizes the opportunity for in-person learning, with comprehensive health and safety requirements. In partnership with city leadership, we are evaluating all DESE guidelines as we work to develop our district’s reopening plan. We are reviewing feedback from our Remote Learning survey and Reopening survey conducted in June and July, as well as seeking additional feedback form staff and community members throughout the summer. Thank you for your continued feedback.
Please join us virtually via Zoom at the upcoming Community Listening sessions. We will briefly review initial survey results, share updated safety regulations, and preview draft plans for reopening scenarios–but mostly we want to have an open forum to hear from you directly. What are your thoughts, concerns, and ideas about reopening? We know e don’t have all the answers, but want to get as much input as we can from our major stakeholders–our families. We hope you can join us.
Malden Public Schools is actively planning for school fall 2020 school re-entry. At the direction of the Department of Elementary and Second Educations (DESE) guidance, the districts re-entry plan is due at the end of July. Along with the guidance from DESE, the plan will be informed by the most recent health guidelines and recommendations, putting the health and safety of students, staff and families at the forefront of our planning process. Plans will be shared with families in early August.
