remote learning message

Dear Linden Families,

This is Mr. Garcia with information on remote learning.

On Friday, Superintendent Oteri sent a message out to families the District will be launching its remote learning plan starting Monday, April 6th. Details of this plan can be found on the district website www.maldenps.org. There is no way to possibly recreate the school environment remotely. The learning plan is a more structured way to connect and engage with our students socially, emotionally, and academically. The goal is to provide students with meaningful and productive opportunities to stay connected to school and maintain learning.

The plan will be a work in progress, adjusted as we go along and learn what works and what doesn’t work for our students and families. So please, reach out and be sure to provide feedback both to your child’s teachers, assistant principals, and myself. This is all new for us also and so we will learn how to do this together.

Teachers will post the week’s learning plan through Google Classroom on Monday’s by 8:00 am. This is so families can plan their time. Teachers will offer feedback on student work and provide opportunities for students to connect with them at least twice a week. This could be a phone call, a whole class Google meet or a small group check in online. All work will be a reinforcement of content already taught and be graded as Pass / Fail. We understand that everyones’ juggling multiple responsibilities at home, health, children, work, and in some cases our elderly parents, this includes our teachers so we want to be sure we are being flexible and providing options.

As always, our letters to families will be posted on the Linden website for your reference later in the week. Please reach out if there is any way the school can be of support to you and your child during this time. Please note, the school buildings are closed. If you need to reach your child’s teacher the best way is via email. If you need to reach anyone else, have general questions or wish to speak with me directly, please email the Linden administrators with the best contact number and we will be sure to get back to you.

Thank you for your patience and for your kind support as we navigate this crisis. Please stay in touch with us!

Wishing you well,

Ray Garcia
