MCAS 2024

It’s that time of year again! This year, Grades 3-8 will take two (2) ELA Sessions and two (2) Mathematics Sessions. In addition, students in Grades 5 and 8 will take two (2) Science, Technology, and Engineering Sessions as well as Grade 8 taking Civics.  MCAS Tests will take place on the following dates:

Grades 3 & 4 ELA Session I: Monday, March 25th, 2024
Grades 3 & 4 ELA Session II: Tuesday, March 26th, 2024

It is important that you talk to your student about the upcoming MCAS Testing. Here are some tips for the night before:

– Eat a healthy breakfast
– Take a walk or be active for thirty minutes to clear your mind before going to bed
– Go to bed early and sleep for at least 8 hours
– Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided by the school
– Have a water bottle with you
– Bring some mints to help stimulate your thinking
– Bring an outside reading book to read for when you finish taking the test
– Dress comfortably (wear layers)
– Arrive at school on-time, and bring appropriate materials with you to your testing center

 2024 Read A Thon


Linden’s Media Specialist Maureen DiNapoli launched a Read A Thon event for our students. Students and Faculty were encouraged to track all reading minutes (aside from classwork) during the month of February. The Class with the MOST read minutes will be receiving a Pizza Party Lunch!

All the log sheets have been collected and we are Proud to Annouce that our School collectively read for 1,344.65 Hours! That is the equivalent to 56 Days of Reading!!!

School Portraits and Classroom Group photos will be taken on Thursday, October 12th. Make Up date is December 1st.

Stop by, Grab a Popsicle (provided by the Linden PTO), Find Out Student’s Teacher / Homeroom assignments, Pick Up 2023-2024 School Calendars, School Supplies Lists, PTO Newsletter, and say Hello!

If families are unavailable that evening – We will be emailing classroom / homeroom assignments that evening. The flyer handouts will be available in the main office leading up to the first day of school on Wednesday, August 30th

UPDATE FROM THE DESK OF PRINCIPAL GARCIA
JULY 26, 2023

I am pleased to announce that Eddie Rodriguez has been hired as an assistant principal for the Linden STEAM Academy.  Mr. Rodriguez will serve as the grades 3-5 assistant principal at Linden.  He will join the administrative team to focus on improving student learning, supporting teachers, and working with families and caregivers in the Linden community.

“Mr. Rodriguez is proud to have served in schools as a teacher and administrator supporting students, staff, parents and communities for the past 18 years. He grew up in the Roxbury section of Boston and graduated from Boston College High School. After graduating from Manhattan College, he received his Masters in Educational Leadership, Management & Policy from Seton Hall University.

He has served in the roles of Science teacher, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal as a lifelong advocate for urban education. His educational philosophy is centered around Restorative Practices, 21st Century skills, data-mining, relationship-building, Equity, and positive school culture and climate initiatives.

Mr. Rodriguez also actively works with grassroots, state and national organizations to help support students, staff and families in different capacities. In addition, he is a high school and college lacrosse referee. He is excited to start the year, and his door is always open.”

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Rodriguez to the Linden STEAM Academy.  We look forward to a wonderful and exciting school year!
