Welcome to Kindergarten!

Introduction:

Hi! My name is Kathi Irwin, and I am teaching the Integrated Kindergarten classroom this year. I have been teaching in Malden since January 1991. I am certified in Elementary and Special Education, and have completed the SEI Endorsement. I have also completed extensive professional development and have earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in School Administration (Licensed for Principal/Assistant Principal Pre-K-6).

Additional Staff:

I am incredibly fortunate to have two highly qualified, talented Paraprofessionals working with me: Rosanne Katz and Pam DePriest. Some children may receive services from the Occupational Therapist, the Physical Therapist, the Adjustment Counselor and/or the Speech and Language Therapist.                PLEASE, if you have ANY problems, questions, or concerns, bring it to our attention as soon as possible. I am always happy to talk with parents via phone, email, written note or at a scheduled conference.

Homework:

Homework is sent home every Friday, and DUE the following Friday. This should NOT be considered optional! The Comment Sheet should be signed and returned weekly with a list of the books you have read to your child, and the books they have read on their own (when able). You should be reading every night to/with your child. The more you read, the better you read. Developing responsibility and good work habits will be a benefit of consistently completing homework. The assignments are meant to provide practice of the skills we are learning in class. If your child is struggling, please let me know.

Additional Information:

Monthly calendars will be sent home. Please refer to it frequently so your child will be ready to participate fully in all of our activities. Thanks, in advance for you support. It is a pleasure to partner with you in such an important year of your child’s education.

May 26th  No School   Memorial Day

More info regarding our Kindergarten Spring Concert will be coming home.

I think the last day of school is June 19st. (I believe dismissal is at 11)
