School Hours
Be sure to arrive to school on time! The building will open for all students to come in and get breakfast and gear up for the day in the cafeteria at 7:45am (students in grades 7 and 8 can grab breakfast to take up to homeroom with them.
Kindergarten- Grade 6 start time: 8:15am-2:15pm.
Grade 7 & Grade 8 start time: 7:45am-2:20pm.
*Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will be entering and exiting the building from the door at the rear of the school, next to the playground. The day begins at 8:15, and dismissal is 2:15.
*Grades 2, 3 and 4 students will be entering and exiting the building from the inside entrance on Concannon Court. The day begins at 8:15, and dismissal is at 2:15.
*Grades 5 and 6 students will be entering and exiting the building from the entrance on Sylvan Street. The day begins at 8:15, and dismissal is at 2:15.
*Grades 7 and 8 students will be entering and exiting the building from the entrance on Sylvan Street. The day begins at 8:00 (students may go up to homeroom as early as 7:45), and dismissal is at 2:20.
Teacher Assignment/ Student Schedules
By now, every student in grades 1-8 should have received their classroom teacher assignment and their school supply lists in the mail! If you did not receive your letter, please don’t hesitate to check Aspen, to call the main office (781) 397-7326 or email Mr. Weldai (aweldai@Maldenps.org) to check in and find out!

08/ 21 2:30-4:30pm – City of Malden sponsored free backpack drive at the Linden School Park on Wescott Street! Each family is able to receive 2 backpacks full of school supplies to start the year. You must register in advance at www.maldenrec.com
*Thursday, August 22, 4:00-5:00pm *and* Friday, August 23, 9:00 – 10:00am – Supply Swap at School! The Malden Public Schools in conjunction with Cradles to Crayons, inc. have full sized backpacks, pre-filled with some school supplies, that are available to Forestdale School students. All are welcome to come down to the school lobby and pick up a backpack! We will also have some bins available in the lobby marked with grade levels if any families would like to bring donations of school supplies to share with families in need, and tissues, disinfectant wipes, etc. for classrooms.
08/28 First day of school for grades 1-8
08/29 Kindergarten Orientation 12:00pm (until appx. 1pm) – Kindergarten Orientation (for parents/caregivers – K students are welcome as well!) in the Forestdale Auditorium. At Orientation you’ll get a chance to meet Mr. Weldai, Mrs. Carpenito, Mr. Foster, and learn who your Kindergarten teacher will be! You will also sign up for a screening appointment with your teacher at this time.

Kindergarten Orientation/ Screening
Thursday, August 29, 12:00pm (until appx. 1pm) – Kindergarten Orientation (for parents/caregivers – K students are welcome as well!) in the Forestdale Auditorium. At Orientation you’ll get a chance to meet Mr. Weldai, Mrs. Carpenito, Mr. Foster, and learn who your Kindergarten teacher will be! Breakfast and Lunch
Every student in Malden Public Schools is provided with a free breakfast and lunch-no paperwork needed. Breakfast is provided to students as they walk into the building or directly in their classroom. Each month, you may view the breakfast and lunch menus for our school at the link below.
