Description and Features
The Communications and Humanities Multi-Media Magnet concentrates on communications, both oral and written. The study of the humanities is used as a focus for teaching and learning in language arts, social sciences, geography, art and music.
Linden provides special programs, support services as well as enrichment opportunities for all students. Students are encouraged to develop authentic products for real world audiences.
There is a Gifted Education Program at the Linden School. Programming and curricula are developed to fit the academic talents of the students. Criteria established by the Malden Public Schools, which include rubrics developed by the teachers of the gifted program, are used to determine student eligibility for the program. Eligibility is reviewed each year and placement is in accord with the Malden Controlled Choice Plan. For a program brochure and application to the Gifted Education Program, contact the school principal, or the Parent Information Center at 781-397-7271.
An active PTO provides many community building activities as well as resources to provide field trips for all Linden students. To enhance the gifted and talented program as well as the school wide theme of communication, parents are encouraged to share skills and interests to support classroom learning.
