Partnership for Community Schools in Malden

HeaderThe Partnership for Community Schools in Malden (PCSM) was launched in 1999 by the Malden Public Schools and City of Malden. Over the past fifteen years, PCSM has coordinated comprehensive citywide out-of-school time programs at the Beebe, Forestdale, Linden, and Salemwood Schools. Programs are now available at the Beebe, Forestdale and Salemwood Schools for grades K-8. Programs include school-year and summer learning opportunities; as well as school vacation camps, that have reached more than 10,000 students.

Through our varied and flexible programming, we support and challenge the physical, social, and intellectual growth of each student. Our academic activities support the work students do during the school day. Our recreational activities foster sportsmanship, healthy competition, teamwork, and fair play. All programs provide students with activities that promote healthy lifestyle choices and help decrease risky behaviors. Our youth-centered activities are tied to educational objectives that align with state and district curriculum priorities, as well as youth development principles identified by the National Collaborative for Youth.

Out-of-school time programming has become an important fixture within the Malden Public School system, with stronger integration between classroom learning and after school activities. Throughout the district, PCSM currently serves more than 600 students in grades K-8.
