Haitian Folkloric Dance Performance – October 2, 2021

Malden students, families, teachers, and administrators are invited to enjoy a free outdoor Haitian dance event on October 2. Jean Appolon Expression (JAE), a highly acclaimed Haitian folkloric dance company whose Artistic Director and Co-founder lives in Malden, will offer a Haitian folkloric dance class and Ouvèti [opening in Haitian Creole], a site-specific outdoor performance.
  • 1:30-3:00 Haitian Folkloric community dance class with live drumming (example of past class)
  • 3:00-3:30 Live drumming and local artisan shopping
  • 3:30-4:00 Ouvèti Dance Performance

Cost: FREE with all donations going to support Earthquake relief efforts in the southwest of Haiti through JAE partner organization ACEGA. ACEGA’s mission is first to accompany youth in Jeremie and around Grand’Anse, and to contribute to the education sector, particularly through arts and culture. Registration is recommended.
