Welcome Back to School!

Dear Malden Public Schools Families and Caregivers,

We have had a great first three days of the school year! Overall, we have seen an 84% attendance rate across the district.

Our ninth-grade students were welcomed to their new building by teachers and staff, who clapped and cheered for them as they entered school on the first day. They were then welcomed by upperclassmen, who served as ambassadors to help students get accustomed to their new routines.

Our students in grades 1-8 have been happy to get back to school and see their friends again. The positive energy has been inspiring! It was especially fun to see students in our Early Learning Center come to school so excited to learn, with their colorful backpacks and school supplies.

Our new and returning teachers have worked together to prepare their classrooms and make them inviting for our students. Our principals, assistant principals, and school staff worked all summer long to ensure our schools would be safe and ready for students to return. They have moved mountains to get to where we are today—and their efforts are appreciated by our entire community.

We look forward to welcoming our Kindergarteners for their first day of school tomorrow, Wednesday, September 8th! We are excited to continue working with our amazing students.

Sincerely,

Ligia Noriega-Murphy
Superintendent
