Welcome Back To School!
Hello Salemwood Families! We are so excited to welcome back our returning students and their families as well as extending a warm welcome to our new students and families! We hope you had a relaxing and fun summer! We are looking forward to a wonderful and enriching 2024-2025 school year! First day of school for Grade 1 through Gr 8 is Wednesday, August 28, 2024 and Kindergarten’s first day is Friday, September 6, 2024. School hours for Kindergarten- Grade 6 are 8:10am-2:15pm; Grade 7 & Grade 8 school hours are 7:45am-2:20pm.
Each grade level has their designated area for drop off and pick up. Staff will be outside to help students find their teachers on the opening days:
- Kindergarten: 2 homerooms at classroom doorway on K-4 plaza and 3 homerooms on Salem St 5-8 plaza;
- Grade 1: K-4 main office plaza; Gr 2: Double blue doors near K-4 Cafe;
- Gr 3 & Gr 4: Tot lot/playground;
- Gr 5 & 6: Salem Street 5-8 plaza;
- Gr 7 & Gr 8: 5-8 cafe.
Breakfast and lunch are free to all students.
Start Times
Be sure to arrive to school on time. Breakfast for students is served as they walk into school or in their classrooms.
Kindergarten- Grade 6 start time: 8:10am-2:15pm;
Grade 7 & Grade 8 start time: 7:45am-2:20pm.
Teacher Assignment/ Student Schedules
Please join us at our Meet and Greet event on the K-4 plaza on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4pm-5pm. Students and families are invited to come meet the admin team and some of our teachers!
At this event, we will be sharing your child’s teacher and homeroom for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
For Gr 5-8, you can also access their schedule on Aspen. If you are not able to attend the event and would like to still find out who your child has for the upcoming school year, please feel free to email Principal Ms. Van at vhuynh@maldenps.org.

Kindergarten Orientation/ Screening
08/29 Kindergarten Orientation 9:00 am (K-4 Cafe)-Families and Incoming Kindergarteners are welcome to attend to meet the Salemwood staff and child’s teacher and get important information and sign up for screening.

School Supplies
Students will be provided with supply lists on their first day of school. Any family who may need support with providing supplies for their student may contact Principal Ms. Van at vhuynh@maldenps.org.
Breakfast and Lunch
Every student in Malden Public Schools is provided with a free breakfast and lunch-no paperwork needed. Breakfast is provided to students as they walk into the building or directly in their classroom. Each month, you may view the breakfast and lunch menus for our school at the link below.
